Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will not play next week’s Laver Cup team competition. He doesn’t feel like he’s 100 percent fit.
Thirty-eight-year-old Nadal has not completed a competitive match since the 2nd round of the Olympic Games in Paris, in which he lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
The 22-time Grand Slam winner planned to return in the Laver Cup, which will be held on the 20th-22nd. September in Berlin, but it won’t happen.
“I am very disappointed to have to announce this information. But this is a team competition and I need to do what is best for the team.
At this moment, there are other players who would contribute more to the triumph of Team Europe,” Nadal published according to Reuters.
