We already know when we can expect the release of the final version of the operating system.
Google officially confirmed this week that it will release its next mobile operating system, Android 16, earlier than usual. The tech giant revealed that the final version of the new system could be released in the second quarter of 2025 – instead of the usual August, September or October date in recent years – sometime in the summer.
Hints of this were first discovered in Android’s open source codebase, the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), but the other day Google released an official in a blog post explained the reasons behind the early release and also outlined the operating system’s release schedule.
The post revealed that a second Android release is expected next year, though it will likely be a minor update to the main operating system. It is expected to be released in the last quarter of 2025, around October, but further details are not yet known. The company has not yet detailed the main novelties of each version.
