‘Android Auto gets support for Gemini Live’

Google is working on a number of new features for Android Auto, including Gemini Live coming to the in-car software.

‘Android Auto will soon work with Gemini Live’

It looks like Google is planning to bring Gemini Live to Android Auto. Website Android Authority dived into the Android Auto apk file (the installation file) and discovered a few lines of code that hint at the arrival of Gemini.

That could mean that you as a driver or passenger can have a conversation with Google’s artificial intelligence during a car ride. Unfortunately, the code does not show how Gemini Live would work within Android Auto. More information about this may emerge later.

Android Authority also discovered new options for playing local media with Android Auto, although nothing further is known about this. In addition, it will be possible to control your car’s radio with Android Auto, and add and save favorite stations. It is not clear when Google will actually add the new features to Android Auto.

Dit is Gemini Live

Gemini Live is available to subscribers of Gemini Advanced, which costs 21.99 euros per month in the Netherlands. Gemini Live makes it possible to have realistic conversations with the AI model, as if you were talking to a human. So you don’t have to give commands every time to ask something to the artificial intelligence.

Gemini Live actually only speaks English, but with a detour it is still possible to have conversations with the AI model in Dutch. Speaking of AI models: also read our explanation article about Gemini models (and all the names) that Google currently uses.
