Android phones are at risk, a dangerous virus is after them. How not to get caught?

A new virus is spreading like lightning among Android mobile or tablet users. It was brought to the attention of an antivirus company Eset and according to its experts, it is a big threat. Labeled malware FakeApp.AFZ in fact, he is said to be attacking more and more aggressively, and every 12th intercepted attack is caused by him.

At the same time, the attackers cover him with various fake appswhich they push users to download. Sometimes it is very difficult to distinguish them from the real ones, especially because they are apps from well-known global companies – for example, OpenAI or IBM. But it is quite likely that they are also abusing other well-known brands that have not yet been discovered.

The goal of hackers is users’ money. They offer them the possibility of profitable and allegedly safe investments in cryptocurrencies. At the same time, they are not trying to break into their bank account, they are just luring more and more investments. And at the same time, in the application, they show how the money is valued beautifully. However, their subsequent selection is no longer possible.

Therefore, experts warn people not to download unverified applications or download them from untrusted sources. It is the abuse of big global brands that is obviously an easy way for fraudsters to get to our money. At the same time, it would be enough download only verified apps and before the first investment, study in detail where you are sending the money.

Other dangerous viruses

It has been in first place among viruses in the Czech Republic that target Android devices since September Andreedwhich according to Eset is responsible for up to 18 percent of attacks. He is nicknamed advertising virus and users most often download it together with a game. Typically, these were Mini Ninjas or Heroes of Might & Magic III games that were exploited by the attackers.

Lovers of the popular Roblox should again beware of the Trojan horse with the label Agent.FBGwhich was found in a cracked version. And among Trojan horses, it is currently one of the most common.

Even in this case, security experts have only one piece of advice – do not download unverified applications or from unverified sites. And it’s also nice to have some antivirus. Attackers do not hesitate to abuse well-known brands, popular games or artificial intelligence.
