The humanitarian Anita Ogulin died at the age of 73 after a long and severe illness, the online portal 24ur.com first reported. We knew her for her selflessness and charity.
Anita Ogulin was the long-term president of the Association of Friends of the Youth of Ljubljana Moste-Polje, which was recently renamed the Association of Anita Ogulin and ZPM. She is the president of the republic in May this year Nataša Pirc Musar as a sign of gratitude and respect for her life’s work, dedicated to volunteering and helping people in need, with which she left an indelible mark on Slovenian society, she was awarded the state award of the Golden Order of Merit. As the president’s office wrote in a press release, for many years Ogulin was the last refuge for too many forgotten children and families. “With her exceptional dedication and many years of work in the field of social welfare and charity, she helped to improve the living conditions of many children, families and individuals in need.”
She was the founder of the Foundation of the President of the Republic Let’s let them dream, a mentor at children’s parliaments, a teacher, a pedagogical leader on vacations, camps and excursions. She also established a scholarship fund for poor children at the Association of Friends of the Youth of Slovenia, which enabled education for many children from families with financial problems. Anita Ogulin was the author and co-author of many programs, among which stand out the Bus of Happiness, Never Alone, Godparenting in Slovenia, Boom Holidays and the Mladii in Evropa project. These programs helped instill a sense of acceptance and self-worth in children and enabled their social inclusion. With her help, the Godparent program in Slovenia enabled support for more than 13,000 children, more than 33 million euros in funds were collected and more than 10,000 godparents joined the circle of solidarity in the program.
She left a priceless legacy
She was a journalist by education. As the face of ZPM for many years, she had a significant influence on the operation of this organization, through which she carried out many national projects of support and assistance to children, young people and families. She also stood up for the rights of children, especially those in need, called for responsible parenting and advocated for a friendly, responsible, solidary, tolerant and open society. Among other things, she founded the Scholarship Fund for poor children at the Association of Friends of the Youth of Slovenia, which enabled education for many children from families with financial problems.
“She left us an invaluable legacy in the form of a recognizable and trustworthy humanitarian organization, and I sincerely wish that we will continue to pursue her mission in cooperation, spread her values of compassion, respect and responsibility for the weaker and be there for children, young people and families in need “, the secretary of ZPM Ljubljana Moste-Polje wrote in the press release Tanja Petek.
