Another Chinese big gun targeted the domestic mobile market –

The smartphones of Vivo, which dominates the Chinese market, are now also available in Hungary. The manufacturer in our country starts with these models and prices.

The Chinese mobile market is quite strange, especially if we look at it from a European perspective: Apple is in the middle, there are quite a few brands that are completely unknown to us, but at the top there are manufacturers that are also known in our country, such as Honor, Huawei, but still strong Xiaomi too. Until now, one actor has not officially paid his respects in Hungary, and this is Vivo, the market leader in China, but this situation will change from today. In addition, the manufacturer did not just start its conquering mission on paper, but its devices are already available, and future plans predict skyrocketing popularity and a market share of at least 5% within a year.

Y28, V40 SE is V40

Vivo was the first to target the entry-level and mid-range category, for which it basically offers three products in various configurations. The Y28 is the absolute entry level, which scares you with technical parameters such as the 4/128 GB package and the HD+ IPS LCD display. This includes the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, which means that the 4G model is not exactly steel, but it can be bought at a starting price of HUF 65,000, it is attractive on the outside and doesn’t look like a hoof when you hold it in your hand. Moreover, the price of 65,000 forints is only a guideline, it can already be found in stores for 55,890 forints, moreover, in several colors.

Moving up, the next model, the V40 SE, can be purchased for HUF 100,000, in exchange for 8/256 GB, which is not bad in this segment, the display is already FHD+, and the panel is AMOLED, but the SoC is a bit weak: Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. If you give up the 5G connection (not recommended), you can save HUF 25,000, but the V40 SE 4G is also weaker, it only has a Snapdragon 685 SoC.

The featured model, which includes modern components and a higher-end camera unit, is the V40 5G, which can be purchased for around HUF 170,000. It is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, available in 8/256 GB versions, and the 50 MP main camera equipped with OiS was developed by Vivo together with Zeiss. The display has a high resolution, curved and AMOLED panel, IP68 protection, stereo sound and the promise of Android 14 updates later.

Reliability, top category, availability

During the domestic announcement, Vivo also proudly announced that its devices are very reliable, the failure rate is below 0.76%, and moreover, 93% of defective devices are resolved within 12 hours after the announcement (including delivery!).

In the Christmas season, Vivo phones are expected to appear in several promotions. For now, the devices can be officially purchased in 5 places, namely Alza, MediaMarkt, FirstPhone, BestByte and, among the service providers, Yettel. We would not be surprised if this list were to be expanded soon, with the names of, say, the other two service providers.

The manufacturer’s next big launch in Hungary is expected in January, when the high-end duo X200 and X200 Pro will become available here. These models feature top-of-the-line hardware, and the X mobiles offer the maximum on the camera front as well. The Hungarian price is not yet known, but in the rest of Europe it will be available for 999/1299 euros.
