Another company wants to launch a triple-folding smartphone, but with a thickness of only 10 mm

If not long ago foldable phones seemed like a futuristic idea, here we are witnessing the emergence of a new generation of devices: the triple foldable ones.

HUAWEI was the pioneer with the release of the Mate XT model, the first device of its kind in the world. As expected, it has sparked a wave of excitement among tech enthusiasts.

Design inovator

At 12.8mm thick when folded, it’s a true technological gem, barely exceeding the dimensions of a regular flip phone.

But the competition in this market segment is just starting to heat up. Honor is getting ready to enter the race with its own tri-folding model.

The competition is intensifying

Rumors started by leakster Teme on his Twitter page suggest that this company could surprise the market with a device that measures just 10mm thick when folded.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Honor also manages to beat the record set by the Huawei Mate XT, after their Magic V3 smartphone was named the thinnest and lightest book-style foldable phone.

Contribution of other companies

We cannot ignore the other major players in the industry either. Tecno, for example, recently unveiled the Phantom Ultimate 2 concept, a tri-folding phone that’s only 11mm thick when ‘folded’.

Samsung is said to be preparing for the launch of the world’s first model with a rollable screen, and it is rumored that Xiaomi is also working on a triple foldable.

An interesting aspect to watch will be how the manufacturers manage to balance the thinness of the devices with the battery life and overall strength of the phone.

challenge

The Mate XT, for example, weighs 298 grams, which makes it quite heavy compared to conventional phones.

The challenge for future models will be to reduce both thickness and weight while maintaining high standards of performance and durability.

Evolution continues

There’s still no release date for Honor’s new tri-fold phone, but one thing’s for sure: as technology advances and more manufacturers enter the market, we can expect thinner and lighter devices.
