A leak from a Chinese store confirms the aforementioned increase in the price of the new Nvidia RTX 50 graphics cards. The price of the flagship model will increase by almost 50%.
Another leak has surfaced about the prices of upcoming graphics cards Nvidia GeForce RTX 50. This time the prices were leaked by a Chinese trader and the price level only confirms the previous leaks about the drastic increase in price. According to a thread shared on X, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards will arrive in China in the first quarter of 2025. The leaked prices list 18,999 yuan (CZK 63,000!) for the RTX 5090 and 9,999 yuan (CZK 33,000) for the RTX 5080. That’s a really big jump in price.
However, we have to look at these prices with a considerable margin, especially because of the CLA and the tax rate in China. Cards can get to our European market for other money. But here it is not so much about the exact price as the hint of an increase in price. And if the price of graphics in our country will go up or down by a few thousand, it probably doesn’t matter. If we compare the prices with the introductory prices of the previous series in the Chinese market, there is an increase of 46% for the 5090 model.
The reason for this increase in price will probably be significant technological innovations in the upcoming models. The flagship RTX 5090 is said to use the GB202 chip with up to 21,760 CUDA cores and 32GB of GDDR7 memory at 28Gbps. The RTX 5080 is of course supposed to have a weaker performance, about which we don’t have so many details yet, but it should still offer a significant jump in performance. But for me, the price of the mainstream model RTX 5070 would be more interesting, because it can mix up the cards quite a bit and maybe even give a chance to newcomers from Intel or competition from AMD. We will learn more soon at CES 2025.
