Another revolution? The creators of ChatGPT are preparing a mysterious AI device

  • The creators of ChatGPT may cause another breakthrough in the technology world
  • They are collaborating with Apple’s former chief designer on AI hardware
  • The new device should help people more than classic software

After the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT generative tool, artificial intelligence took on a completely different dimension. Even a complete layman can encounter it on a daily basis, in various online services, or directly in the system of his smartphone. A previously primarily non-profit organization can start another revolution, with its own mysterious AI device.

OpenAI is working on a hardware project related to artificial intelligence, but for now we can only make blind guesses at what it will look like and what it will be able to do. However, one thing is clear: in terms of design, it could be an absolute gem, because former Apple chief designer Jony Ive is also involved in development.

The collaboration between OpenAI and Ive was speculated a year ago, but now we finally get confirmation thanks to the letter The New York Times. Only 10 people are currently involved in the project, but they include Tang Tan and Evans Hankey, who worked with Ive on the design of the iPhone.

According to The New York Times, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Jony Ive discussed “how generative artificial intelligence would enable the creation of new computing devices.” According to them, this technology would have potential help people more than traditional software.

The idea of AI hardware is not on the table for the first time. This year, for example, a small box called the Humane AI Pin, which was supposed to replace smartphones, hit the market. But in the end, it became an aspirant for flop of the year, because given its price, it simply does not work as expected. Reviewers also critically evaluated the Rabbit R1 product, which is another box with a personal assistant, but unlike the mentioned AI Pin, it offers a display.
