Anti-discrimination student movement: Kausar, the injured university student in Newmarket, is no more

Kausar Mahmud (22), a student of BGC Trust University Bangladesh, who was injured by the tearshells thrown by the police while participating in the protest program called by the anti-discrimination student movement, is no more (Innalillahi wa Innalillahi Rajiun).

He died on Sunday (October 13) at 10:30 pm while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital.

Abdul Motaleb, the father of deceased Kawsar Mahmud, confirmed the matter. He said, ‘Kauser’s funeral will be held tomorrow (Monday) morning at Jatiya Shaheed Minar. Later, it will be brought to the home of Commerce College Road in Chittagong.’

It is known that Mahmud, who had joined the movement in the July Revolution, fell to the ground after being hit by tearshells thrown by the police at Chittagong New Market Junction on August 3. Then he suffered a kidney injury due to the severe beating of the Chhatra League. Kausar had already lost one kidney. He was admitted to Islami Bank Hospital in Chittagong for more than 2 months.

After being admitted to Dhaka CMH for better treatment, Kausar Mahmud breathed his last at around 10:30 pm on Sunday.

Kausar was a fourth year student of BBA Department, BGC Trust University, Bangladesh. Own district Lakshipur. He is the son of Abdul Motaleb of Bhatra Union of Ramganj Upazila.

Abdul Motaleb has been living with his family at Chittagong Karmas College Road in Motaleb Nagar for a long time. He has a grocery store in Mughaltuli.
