Apple has modified its list of vintage and obsolete products and this happened because other nostalgic devices had to be added. Now, the iPhone XS Max, released in 2018, and the iPhone 6s Plus, introduced in 2015, are now considered vintage. Additionally, all Apple Watch Series 2 models have been moved to the obsolete category. These updates mark the end of official support for these devices.
Apple’s vintage list includes products that the company discontinued more than 5 years ago. You obviously won’t find Apple selling these devices anymore, but users can repair them if parts are available. Interestingly, the iPhone 6s Plus, despite being three years older than the XS Max, simultaneously reached vintage status because it stayed on the market longer.
When they were first released, both the iPhone XS Max and iPhone 6s Plus were top-of-the-line models. The iPhone XS Max was Apple’s largest iPhone at the time, with a 6.5-inch Super Retina OLED display. It also introduced Face ID and had a powerful A12 Bionic processor. This phone catered to users who wanted a large, premium device.
Also, the iPhone 6s Plus, released in 2015, brought new features such as 3D Touch which allowed the display to detect pressure levels for different commands. It also improved the camera system with optical image stabilization, offering better photos and videos. These devices have been replaced by newer models, but many people still remember them fondly.
Finally for the Apple Watch Series 2
Apple has now added the Apple Watch Series 2 to its obsolete list. Launched in 2016, this device was one of the favorite smartwatches with water resistance and built-in GPS, making it popular among active users. However, as technology has progressed, this model has reached the end of its useful life.
