Apple came up with this cleverly. The glass in the iPhone 16 hasn’t become stronger, we’ve just been carefully deceived.

While we are sorting out our feelings and deciding whether we want the new iPhone 16 Pro or not, I suggest discussing another innovation announced during yesterday’s Apple presentation.

Many people ignored this, but those who have ever broken their previous generation iPhone heard: The display glass and back glass of the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro are 50% stronger! They further explained that these are not just words, but the result of an improved Ceramic Shield formula.

As for me, 50% is a lot. This statement was simply an ultimatum, compared to other announced figures of an improved processor or camera. So where did the cunning marketers fool us? Now I will explain.

Ceramic Shield, yes not that

My iPhone 12 Pro Max from back in 2020 with a deep scratch on the first generation Ceramic Shield.

I once vehemently argued that screen protection for an iPhone is simply necessary. I based it on my own experience and observations of people around me: for example, the glass on my iPhone 12 Pro Max was scratched simply “from the air”, or rather from the fact that I once let a friend of mine, who wore earrings, make a call on my smartphone.

I have also seen dozens of results of iPhones falling from hands onto asphalt, tiles and other hard surfaces. In 8 out of 10 cases, the fall inevitably resulted in cracks on the glass of the device.

This was the case back in 2020, when Apple began installing Ceramic Shield in the then new iPhone 12.

It’s been 4 years since then, and with each new iPhone, the guys from Cupertino have improved their glass. I honestly don’t remember the last time I saw scratches on the screen of my iPhone, starting with the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I haven’t heard stories from friends like “I dropped and broke my iPhone” for a long time.

And yet, Apple proudly announced yesterday that the mega-strong glass has improved by as much as 50%. So, you can really hammer nails with the iPhone 16 screen?

Well, no.

In fact, The glass in the iPhone 16 was compared to the first generation Ceramic Shield, which was in the iPhone 12 four years ago!

Now that’s clever, of course.

That is, in fact, considering the 4 years that have passed, the Ceramic Shield on my iPhone 15 Pro is exactly the same, and there is no difference at all between it and its version in the iPhone 16.

I think so because the speakers did not hesitate to enthusiastically talk about the processor performance gains of some 17 or 20 percent compared to the iPhone 15 Pro. And at the same time they did not dare to compare their glass with the previous generation iPhone, but took a device from 4 years ago.

By that logic, everything else should have been compared to the iPhone 12. That would have been it. what do you need numbers!

Yes, there are no complaints about the current generation of Ceramic Shield. My iPhone 15 Pro flew down the stairs, was carried in my pocket with keys, and all this without any films or additional protection. The screen is still in perfect condition.

It was simply offensive to catch Apple in such a manipulation of facts out of thin air. And this confirms the opinion of Nikita, who has already written about a new level of marketing exaggerations and stretching an owl onto a globe.

Perhaps there is no need to review yesterday’s presentation so thoroughly, but just want a new iPhone again, just like in the good old days, simply because it is an innovative smartphone from Apple.

But so far, things haven’t worked out that way.
