Apple explained how much memory is needed on the iPhone for Apple Intelligence to work

Apple will soon release iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence and many are wondering how much space the new AI features will take up. Finally, Apple itself has answered this question.

According to a document added in iOS 18.1 beta 5, Apple Intelligence will require 4 GB of memory to run on an iPhone.

There is also a footnote in the document that states that “storage requirements for Apple Intelligence models on devices will increase as new features are rolled out.” So 4 GB is the required minimum for Apple Intelligence.

Additionally, this requirement is only for iPhones. iPad and Mac may require a different amount of resources.

The size of Apple Intelligence in beta changes regularly. In iOS 18.1 beta 5, its weight decreased to 2.6 GB, although in previous firmware it occupied 3.5-4 GB.

But given that Apple will regularly add new features, the size of Apple Intelligence will only increase in subsequent versions of iOS 18. (9to5Mac)
