The iPhone 14 adventure is over. Apple has removed it from the store, but does that mean this model can no longer be purchased?
Although late autumn is synonymous with shopping due to Black Friday and pre-Christmas promotions, a large part of users decide to buy electronics after the New Year – electronics stores tempt with seasonal discounts, and Christmas bonuses motivate spending. If you are one of these people and are now faced with choosing a new iPhone, you may be a little surprised because Apple has just withdrawn the still fresh model from sale. Why is 14 no longer available?
Apple lost to the EU
On December 28, regulations officially entered into force establishing USB-C as a universal standard for charging electronics, and more specifically, all devices that operate with a power of up to 100 watts. The new regulations cover headphones, smartphones, tablets, laptops, portable consoles, and even cars, which will now be available on the market – if the manufacturer decides to include charging ports in them, they will have to be compatible with USB-C. .
Why is Apple so highlighted in this process? That’s because until recently, the giant from Cupertino included a Lightning port in its devices and for a long time resisted any attempts to standardize the charging standard. The first attempt to prepare for the upcoming changes (not counting the 12-inch MacBook from 2015) was the premiere of the iPad Pro in 2018. However, only after five more years did Apple adapt its most popular device, the iPhone – the 15 model was the first smartphone with a bitten an apple, devoid of Lightning.
The Fourteen, which still remembers the original Apple connector, is still a good choice for most users, but… you can’t buy it in the official store anymore. Apple quietly removed the smartphone from its lineup.
What else can you buy iPhone 14?
Going to the iPhone tab in official Apple online storeyou can still see the tile with the model 14, but clicking the button cup it only takes us to an information site. So you can still read about its most important functionalities, but if you want to buy Apple, it will redirect you to models 15 and 16. Why? Well, probably because of the formal entry into force of new EU guidelines, forcing manufacturers to use the potential of USB-C in the fight against ubiquitous plastic.
And what is the situation with official Apple resellers on the Vistula River? I looked at the iSpot and Cortland offers – not much has changed there, and the 14 series models are available in many variants and colors (both standard and Plus). Prices for the fourteenth generation models start from PLN 2,699 for the 128 GB option, and for the largest memory of 512 GB we will have to pay PLN 4,299.
The same fate befell the now outdated iPhone SE. The tab dedicated to it on the Apple website takes you to a blank page and even reseller stores won’t help you buy it – its time has finally come to an end.
