A new useful feature for iPhone owners will soon be implemented via iOS 18.
REVEALED in the iOS 18.2 beta 2 code, it will allow users to see how long it takes until their phone is fully charged.
How the new feature will work
Apple is developing a new framework called “BatteryIntelligence”, which will calculate the estimated charging time based on the energy received by the device.
Users will be able to receive notifications with estimates for different charge thresholds, such as reaching 80% battery level.
Although the feature was identified in the code of the latest beta version, it is still disabled and unfinished. This suggests only one thing: that Apple is working hard to make it perfect.
A similar functionality already exists on MacBooks if we go to the menu called Battery.
New features for battery management
There are other improvements to do with battery health. As a prime example, users can limit iPhone’s maximum charge to 80%, 85%, 90% or 95% to extend battery life.
The OS also displays an alert when the phone is connected to a slow-moving charger.
This new feature will be particularly useful for users who choose to charge their devices during the day rather than overnight, eliminating the need to guess when the phone may be disconnected from the charger.
It’s a feature that Android phones and other electronic devices have had for a long time.
What other news does iOS version 18.2 bring?
The update, scheduled for release next month, will include more AI-based features: ChatGPT integration, Genmoji, Visual Intelligence for iPhone 16 models, Image Playgrounds, the option to pay for ChatGPT Plus from the Settings menu, and the ability to share Find locations My via link.
It remains to be seen whether loading time estimation will be enabled with this update or in a future version of the operating system.
