Apple is losing ground in China again while Huawei is soaring

Apple’s market share in the Chinese market is on a downward trajectory, as shown by the latest statistical data from the companies IDC and Canalys. The latest reports on local smartphone shipments in the region confirm that vivo was the best-selling company in the third quarter of 2024, with Huawei and Xiaomi also seeing huge increases in shipments, while their American rival did not. managed to meet her results twelve months ago.

While different analysts take different approaches to their data collection, the overall picture clearly shows that the market in China is getting tighter. The difference between first and fifth place is infinitesimal.

Interestingly, IDC revealed that shipments of phones over $600 rose nearly 30%, while the share of premium devices ($400-$600) fell to 6.6%. That includes foldable smartphones, whose shipments grew 13.6% year-over-year.

Talking about foldable phones, Huawei remains the undisputed leader with 41% of all sales in the third quarter, followed by Honor with a market share of 21.9%. Xiaomi, Samsung and vivo completed the top 5 of the new ranking.
