Apple is not forcing users to upgrade to iOS 18 –

At Apple’s big annual event, it became official that the new operating system, iOS 18, will be available on September 16, even before the new iPhones are released. The update will add a lot of new functions to the supported devices, but the initial, mainly applications due to compatibility problems, many people will probably wait to install the new system.

Apple thought about these users as well, so those who want to continue using iOS 17 after the new operating system is rolled out need not worry.

Along with the public release of iOS 18.0 RC (Release Candidate) on Monday, the company also released a new iOS 17.7 RC for developers and public beta testers. While all indications are that the update didn’t bring any new features, it did bring a number of security bug fixes to iOS 17.

Apple is expected to release iOS 17.7 early next week at the same time as iOS 18.0. Users will have the option in the settings to decide whether to stay on iOS 17, which includes security fixes, or upgrade to iOS 18, which brings new features.

By the way, Apple acted very similarly in the case of iOS 16, where after a certain point only the devices that could not be updated to iOS 17 received the fixes affecting the older software – presumably the schedule will be something similar in the case of the new system .

In addition to iOS 18, the people from Cupertino will also release iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, visionOS 2 and macOS Sequoia next week.
