Apple MacBook Pro got M4 processors and finally 16 GB of RAM in the base for the same price

Company Apple introduced new laptops a few days ago MacBook Pro. They differ from their predecessors more on the inside than on the outside. The main change is the use of new processors of the M4 family, i.e. both the basic M4 and the M4 Pro or M4 Max. These will offer higher performance especially for artificial intelligence tasks, thanks to the powerful Neural Engine (NPU) and improved units for ML algorithms in classic processor cores (CPU). We have three Thunderbolt 4 ports, in the version with M4 Pro and M4 Max we can even look forward to Thunderbolt 5 with a transfer speed of 120 Gb/s. The displays can now display SDR content at up to 1000 nits brightness (up to 1600 nits peak in HDR) and there’s also a new 12MPx Center Stage camera. And thanks to optimization for Apple Intelligence, we finally got to see that even the cheapest MacBook Pro has at least 16 GB of shared memory. And not only him.

The 14.2″ version of the notebook can have all three processors, from the M4 with 10 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores to the M4 Max with 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores. Other specifications also depend on the processor used, the shared memory can be 16 to 32 GB (M4), 24 to 48 GB (M4 Pro) or up to 128 GB (M4 Max). TB (M4 Max).

The Liquid Retina display offers a resolution of 3024×1964 pixels and has a variable refresh rate ProMotion with a maximum of 120 Hz. The notebook measures 31.26×22.12×1.55 cm and weighs 1.55 to 1.62 kg depending on the processor. The sound system is in charge of a system of 6 speakers including woofers, there are also 3 microphones of studio quality, a 3.5 mm audio jack and an HDMI port. The already mentioned three Thunderbolt ports and a slot for an SDXC card are not missing. We also have the Touch ID fingerprint reader. The 72.4 Wh battery should last for 13-16 hours of web browsing or 18-24 hours of video playback, and can be charged via a 70W or optional 96W adapter.

The 16.2″ version differs mainly in the display, which has a resolution of 3456×2234 pixels. This is of course reflected in the larger dimensions of 35.57×24.81×1.68 cm and a higher weight of 2.14-2.15 kg. Another difference is that this model is only offered with the M4 Pro and M4 Max processors (so the basic M4 is not an option). A 140W adapter takes care of the power here.

The positive news is that while Apple has increased the amount of memory, it hasn’t increased the base price. The notebooks thus became cheaper with the same configuration (the current 16GB version costs the same as the M3 with 8GB). 14″ MacBook Pro so in the configuration with M416 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD will cost CZK 49,990 including VAT. M4 Pro with a 12-core CPU and 16-core GPU, 24 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD starts at CZK 59,990 with VAT and the version with M4 Max starts on a 14-core CPU, 32-core GPU with 36 GB memory and 1 TB SSD for 95,990 CZK including VAT. As usual, extras are very expensive, just changing from 16 GB to 32 GB RAM will cost 12 thousand CZK. The upgrade from 512GB SSD to 1TB costs 6,000, for 2TB it is another 12,000 more (ie 18,000 against 512GB).

16″ MacBook Pro starting with the processor version M4 Probut in a better configuration with a 14-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 24GB of shared memory and a 512GB SSD. For this version, you will pay CZK 74,990 including VAT. The good news is that the same minimum shared memory of 16 GB has made it to the cheaper MacBook Airs, and even there it hasn’t budged from the base price. MacBook Air s 16 GB RAM so now it starts at 29,990 CZK with VAT for the version with the M2 processor and 31,990 CZK with VAT for the version with the M3.
