Apple Music Classical 2.0, here’s all the news

Apple Music Classicalthe classical music streaming service launched in early 2023, today received a major update to its version 2.0bringing with it some features that will enrich the listening experience on iPhone and iPad. If you’re a classical music fan, this update could be just right for you.

What’s New in Apple Music Classical 2.0

The most interesting new feature introduced by this version is the addition of the album booklets for thousands of albums available in the library. These digital booklets offer liner notes in multiple languages, composer biographies, information about the orchestra, conductors and soloists. In some cases, you can also find the lyrics and librettos of the operas. This content allows you to delve deeper and better understand the musical context of what you are listening to, offering a more complete and immersive experience.

Per log in to an album booklet, simply select the book icon that appears in the top right when available. A tap on it will download the booklet, which can be browsed using zoom and scroll gestures to explore all the details provided.

In addition to the album booklets, Apple has introduced a new section “Recently Added” in the library, which gives you quick access to the latest albums or songs added to your personal collection.

Apple Music Classical continues to offer a rich catalog, with over five million tracks of classical music, including newly released high-quality albums. Subscribers can explore hundreds of playlists, thousands of exclusive albums, and access detailed composer biographies, along with in-depth insights into some of the most important works in music history.

Unlike the traditional Apple Music app, Apple Music Classical is designed specifically for classical music lovers. The app offers a simpler interface, allowing you to search for music by composer, work, director, catalogue numberand much more. Thanks to in-depth editorial descriptions, you can discover unique details about each work or artist.

Another neat feature that Apple has added to the app is the high resolution digital portraits of famous composers such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopine Johann Sebastian Bach. These portraits were created using color palettes and artistic references typical of each composer’s classical period, making the visual experience as immersive as the audio experience. Apple plans to add more unique artwork over time to further enrich the app.
