Apple has released a new firmware update for all AirPods 4 models, both for the standard version and for the one with active noise cancellation (ANC). With the new 7B19 firmware, which replaces the 7A304 build launched last September, owners of the latest AirPods can expect some stability improvements, although Apple has not yet provided specific details on what’s new.
While Apple hasn’t yet clarified what specific changes or features this update brings, we’re expecting some improvements to stability and overall performance. We also know that the 7B19 firmware is the same one currently used by the AirPods Pro 2, which recently saw the introduction of advanced hearing health features, such as hearing tests, hearing protection and even a hearing assistance mode (not in Italy). However, these features will not be integrated into the AirPods 4, which will continue to focus on a more standard listening experience without assistive features.
Apple doesn’t yet allow you to manually update the AirPods’ firmware, but they update automatically when they’re in the charging case and connected to an iPhone or Mac. To make sure the firmware updates correctly, simply connect your AirPods to your iOS device or Mac, making sure Bluetooth is turned on. With a little patience, the device will do everything by itself.
The AirPods 4 are also available on Amazon at the price of €149 in the standard version and €199 in the version with active noise cancellation.
