Apple just released the first betas of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2 for developers, anticipating a series of really interesting news, especially regarding Apple Intelligence. While the iOS 18.1 version is expected next week, the new features arriving with 18.2 are even more important.

Key New Features in iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2

Image Playground

One of the most innovative tools is Image Playgrounda new feature that lets you create images based on descriptions. By entering simple text, you can generate animated or illustrated-style images. Not only that: the app can use suggestions from conversations in Messages or content saved in Notemaking creations even more personal and contextualized.

Integration with Messages it’s the real strong point: you can send your creations directly to chats, surprising friends and relatives. While the images won’t be photorealistic, they’ll be perfect for those who like an animated or illustrative style.

Image Wand

Image Wand, on the other hand, brings image creation directly to the iPad. You can draw a sketch or circle a piece of text on Note to generate a corresponding image. A feature designed for creatives who love to express themselves visually with minimal effort.

Genmoji

With Genmoji, Apple allows users to create unique emoji characters based on descriptions. You can turn friends and family into cute emojis thanks to the data collected from the album People in Photos. These custom emoji are a fun and innovative addition to your standard emoji set and can be created directly from the keyboard.

Siri Integrated with ChatGPT

Apple Intelligence also introduces Siri integration with ChatGPT. If Siri can’t answer a question, it will pass the request to ChatGPT, which will provide a more complete answer. Please note that this feature will only be available upon user approval, ensuring maximum transparency.

Visual Intelligence

With Visual Intelligence, iPhone 16 users will be able to point the camera at places or objects to get detailed information. For example, pointing your camera at a restaurant will display opening hours and reviews. This feature also includes the ability to read texts, detect phone numbers or addresses, and even search for products on Google. In the future, Apple plans to further expand these capabilities.

Enhanced encryption tools

In version 18.2, Apple also expands the functionality of Writing Toolsallowing users to make more specific changes to texts. In addition to being able to change the tone of a message (friendly, professional or simplified), you will be able to describe more detailed changes, such as turning an email into a poem or adding action words to make it more energetic.

With regard to macOS 15.2also in this case new features related to Apple Intelligence arrive, such as Writing Tools, ChatGPT in Siri and Image Playground.

These functions will not be available in Italy, at least for now.
