At first public beta of iOS 18.2 is now available, and there are so many new features. Among the most interesting additions are new Apple Intelligence options such as Genmoji and ChatGPT integration directly into Siri, but these are not yet available in Italy and will only arrive in April.
Here, however, are all the new features already available from us.
The new features of iOS 18.2 available in Italy
But iOS 18.2 isn’t just AI. Even in Italy we can benefit from a series of improvements:
- Where: You can now share the location of a lost item with anyone, even if they don’t have an Apple device.
- New Hub in settings for default apps: Setting up default apps for email, messaging, calls, browsers, passwords and keyboards is now possible from the apps section of settings.
- Possibility of clear system apps App Store, Safari, Messages, Camera and Photos
- In the Sound & Haptics section of the Settings app, there’s a new Volume Limit option with a “Limit Maximum Volume” toggle to control the maximum volume at which the iPhone speaker can play audio content like songs, movies, and other content multimedia.
- Multi-track recordings to Voice Memos (for iPhone 16 Pro): a function that allows you to record vocal tracks on multiple levels.
- Camera Control on iPhone 16: Light touch to lock focus and exposure.
- Live Activity support in Safari: You can now track downloads directly with a Live Activity.
- iOS 18.2 requires users to select a default browser the first time they open Safari, offering the possibility to choose between various alternatives.
- New ones are available quick actions for the Fitness app in Commands, including “Open Fitness Settings,” “Open Award,” “Open Session History,” and “Open Trophy Showcase.”
- In Dark Modesettings icons now have colors on a black background, improving visibility in low-light environments.
- Apple ha optimized battery life and temperature control, ensuring more stable performance.
- In the Control Centerthere’s a new quick access option for Typing via Siri. Apple also removed the Satellite option control from the Connectivity section and changed the icon for Adaptive Audio.
- There is a new option to force the bar volume control to always be visible on the lock screen when you adjust the sound. The feature can be enabled in the Accessibility section of the Settings app. Accessibility > Audio and Visual Effects > Always show volume controls.
- In the Safari section of the Settings app, there’s a new toggle that lets you know if you’re visiting a website that doesn’t have a SSL certificate valid for an encrypted connection. We do not recommend submitting passwords or other sensitive data to a site that displays an “Not Secure” warning. The switch is not enabled by default. There’s also a new section for managing website data and history. There are new import and export options and the section also includes the Clear History and Website Data tool.
- Apple Music now displays disc number in some albums.
- You can add categories to favorites in the app Podcast in iOS 18.2 and view categories in your library.
- When you connect to a Mac or PCyou can use Face ID to authorize a device.
The public release of iOS 18.2 will arrive in December. According to Mark Gurman, Apple is aiming for the first week of the month, although there is no certain date yet. Looking back, we can expect a release around mid-December.
