It’s been almost two weeks since Apple released beta 3 for developers of all its operating systems, including iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. In this video we explained the main new features. However, a few days ago Apple updated beta 3 for developers releasing an updated version. This usually happens when you want to revert or fix a bug to prevent it from spreading in an update. Although there were no major changes between the two versions, Apple did remove the changes to stickers and emojis that were introduced in the first beta 3 of iOS 18.

Apple removes emoji changes from iOS 18 beta 3

One of the main new features of iOS 18 developer beta 3 was found in the stickers and emojis panel from the keyboard of our iPhone and iPad. The change allowed include iOS 18 stickers as emojis within messages. Previously, we could only use these stickers by sending them alone, which would increase in size on the screen, or by inserting them as a reaction to messages, photos and videos. In this way, the user could see the stickers in emoji format directly inserted into their messages.

However, Apple has removed this modification in the revised version of iOS 18 developer beta 3. There has been no explanation for the move, and no reports of any malfunctions have been reported for users who have the original version installed on their devices. Apple is likely to want to polish the modification before releasing it officially in the form of developer betas. But we cannot confirm that the feature will return in beta 4. We can only say that Apple is working on this change and that we might see it in the future.

As a side note, beta 3 also introduced one more change regarding stickers and emojis. This was the unification of emoji, stickers and Memoji in a single panel, so that the user can access all of them through a single selector. That feature remains intact in the revised iOS 18 beta 3.
