Apple rushes out iOS 18.0.1 with bug fixes for iPhone 16

From the early hours of Saturday 5/10/24, the availability of a new update in our country for iPhone devices has started, bringing the first official update for iOS 18 and includes a handful of bug fixes that particularly benefit the iPhone 16 series. Well, we’re talking about the new iOS 18.0.1 and together with the release of iPadOS 18, which promises to solve the “freezes” displayed by some iPad Pro M4 units.

According to the patch notes, the new firmware addresses the issue of iPhone 16 and 16 Pro touchscreens becoming temporarily inactive. iOS 18.0.1 also includes a fix for the camera freezing under very specific conditions when recording video in macro mode on the ultrawide camera on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Here are the full notes on what Apple’s new iOS 18.0.1 brings:

  • Fixes an issue with the touch screen that temporarily stopped working in some cases on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models.
  • Permanently fixes the camera freezing issue when recording video in macro mode on the Ultra Wide camera in 4K with HDR disabled on iPhone 16 Pro models.
  • Fixes the bug that caused the Messages app to quit unexpectedly when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face.
  • Improves performance and memory allocation management on some iPhone models.

Apple is also already testing iOS 18.1 beta, which includes the first set of functions Apple Intelligence, ahead of an expected release sometime this month.
