Apple updates the list of older devices

Apple has updated its list of devices classified as “vintage” and “obsolete”, including some historical iPhone and Apple Watch models. Among the new additions we find theiPhone 6s Plus and theiPhone XS Maxwhich officially enter the category vintage globally.

When an Apple product is labeled as vintageit means that five years have passed since the company stopped its distribution for sale. Vintage devices can still be repaired at Apple or authorized centers, but only if replacement parts are available. However, not all models fall into the same category: theiPhone 6s Plus da 32GB had already been classified as obsoletea next level that involves no support for repairs at all.

Curiously, the models iPhone XS e iPhone 6s standard they haven’t made the vintage list yet, despite sharing the same production generation as the newly updated models.

The update isn’t limited to iPhones. Also some models of Apple Watch Series 2 aluminum and stainless steel have been added to the list of obsolete. This means that they will no longer be repairable at Apple or authorized centers. Interestingly, the high-end version of the Apple Watch Series 2, with a ceramic case, has not yet been included in the list.
