Apple will adopt the same manufacturing process for the iPhone SE 4 and the iPhone 16

A new leak from China suggests that Apple will use the same rear frame manufacturing process for the iPhone SE 4 and iPhone 16.

Second il leaker “Fixed Focus Digital” su Weibo, iThe manufacturing process of the iPhone SE 4 back panel It will be exactly the same as the standard iPhone 16 model, which is scheduled to launch in September. The iPhone SE 4, on the other hand, is expected to arrive between March and June 2025.

This new rumor calls into question a previous rumor that suggested Apple would use a modified iPhone 14 chassis as the basis for the fourth-generation iPhone SE.

It’s unclear what may have prompted the change in strategy, but it’s possible that Apple chose to adopt its newer rear frame manufacturing process for the SE model to take advantage of economies of scale in production as production of the iPhone 14 models nears retirement.

It could also indicate a change in camera system of the fourth-generation iPhone SE. Unlike the iPhone 14, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera with a custom back panel to accommodate the design change.

For the iPhone 16 models, Apple is planning a new vertical camera lens arrangement, a change from the diagonal lens configuration found on the iPhone 15 models. The new design will presumably allow the standard iPhone 16 models to capture spatial video for Vision Pro. Adopting the same rear panel for the iPhone SE 4 could suggest that the budget smartphone will include the same setup at dual cameraalthough there are no specific rumors confirming these plans from Apple yet.

Apple aims for a starting price less than $500 for the fourth-generation iPhone SE, despite a number of very interesting updates. The Touch ID and Home button will be replaced by Face ID and a display notch, while the display size will increase from 4.7 inches to 6.1 inches. Other features expected for the next iPhone SE include a USB-C port and an Action button.

The third-generation iPhone SE was released in March 2022, so there’s likely to be a lot of interest in a new model that includes some of the latest features from Apple’s flagship models.
