Development of Apple’s first foldable iPhone has reportedly started, but is said not to be launched until autumn 2026.

In 2019, the first mobiles from Samsung and Motorola came with foldable screens, whereby many turned their eyes to Apple and their first foldable iPhone. It still hasn’t appeared, but fall 2026 could be the first time Apple presents a foldable iPhone, and it’s said to be a clam shell model in the style of the Samsung Galaxy Z flip and and Motorola Razr.

It is the publication DigiTimes Asia which goes out with the information that Apple has started the research and development phase of the device this year. It is said to have already signed a contract with Samsung Display regarding the supply of screens.

According to DigiTimes, the dimensions should be in the region of existing iPhones, but does not go into which one or which ones it would be about, or if it is in an extended or folded position.

Previous rumors have said that the first foldable Apple product would be an iPad, but the company is said to have changed its strategy “due to challenges in the Chinese smartphone market”, which will lead to an iPhone being the first.
