Arbor in the sign of solar energy; new systems, new panels

The “Solar Energy for SMEs” project will enable six food companies from Sjenica to install solar panels with the support of the Energy Efficiency Program Co-financing Fund. By using solar energy, these companies will reduce production costs and improve their business performance, which will contribute to long-term sustainability and greater efficiency in work. This initiative aims to improve business through the use of renewable energy sources, which is of particular importance for regions such as Sjenica, which have an unstable supply of electricity.

The Municipality of Sjenica, the Regional Development Agency of Sandžak (SEDA) and USAID support local companies through co-financing through the “Big Small Economy” Project. The project provides better conditions for the use of solar energy, reducing dependence on traditional energy sources. Through this project, companies will realize significant savings, while the lifetime of the solar panels will provide long-term benefits, strengthening agricultural production in an area known for its dairy and animal husbandry.

Solar innovations are followed in step with the world

The fund for co-financing the energy efficiency program is the first initiative in Serbia aimed at small and medium-sized companies in the agricultural sector. This fund is the result of cooperation between the municipality of Sjenica, the private sector, SEDA and USAID. The project is an example of a successful partnership to encourage local economic development. It greatly contributes to the preservation of nature through the green transition. In addition, the project helps companies to reduce their electricity bills, while USAID continues to support these initiatives in Serbia.

One of the companies that will install solar panels is the Fass dairy. It is a family business that buys milk from 200 local producers. At the same time, Fass supplies dairy products to the entire area of Sjenica and Novi Pazar. Thanks to solar energy, this company expects electricity savings of 50%, which will significantly reduce their production costs.

The introduction of solar panels has multiple benefits, including reducing energy costs and improving environmental sustainability. The project shows how renewable energy sources can improve the business and economic development of rural communities. At the same time, it helps preserve nature and supports agricultural producers.
