Saint-Gobain returns in 2025 giving students from universities around the world the opportunity to try their hand at two real projects for Nord Isère.

Architecture Student Contest It is a highly prestigious international competition that attracts thousands of students from universities all over the world.

The authorship of the contest lies with the company Saint-Gobainleader in the design and production of building materials with an emphasis on safety, comfort and sustainability in the housing sector.

For twenty years now, the French giant has been offering university students the opportunity to live a unique experience, undoubtedly of enormous enrichment for their professional curriculum.

Like every year since it all began in 2004 with the first Saint-Gobain Isover contest in Serbia, this contest will also be held in 2025 and will take place in Nord Isère (France) on the dates 16 – 18 June.

To speak concretely, these are the numbers of the competition held this year: over 2800 students, 210 universities interested, 40 countries.

But what does theArchitecture Student Contest?

Every year Saint-Gobain chooses a country with the aim of solving a specific problem and/or responding to a specific architectural need and to do this it works closely with the local municipality.

Therefore, also during the 2025 edition, students from different universities around the world will present their ideas to achieve this goal by competing with each other but, at the same time, learning from each other.

This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate your academic know-how in the field.

The 3 best suggestions will win a cash prize.

Il project of the 2025 edition will feature two towns in the Isère department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region: Villefontaine and Chimilin.

For Villefontaine the students will have to carry out the design of a residential area designed for students and teachers who visit the location near the Grands Ateliers.

Chimilin’s need, however, consists in the renovation of an ancient school building to transform it into a modern one multifunctional space.

It’s possible register online to participate in the contest once you have created your account.

Bachelor’s and master’s students in architecture, design, construction engineering and disciplines related to these sectors can access it.

The competition consists of two phases:

  • National Phase which will take place at the Saint-Gobain Italia headquarters in Milan;
  • International Phase which will take place in the Nord-Isère region, France.

Only the first classified in the National Phase will be able to access the second in French territory at the end of which the winners will be announced.
