ARD “Year of News” enters autumn

The year 2024 was chosen by the ARD as the “Year of News” to raise awareness of the safe handling of news.

The individual ARD media houses want to go into the autumn with a broad range of media competence offerings and will start in a week on September 19 with the ARD News Day.

Discussing Tagesschau

The “Get involved! at the Tagesschau” event on September 19th is intended as an activity for young and old. In this online event, participants will discuss the selection of topics with the Tagesschau team, experience in interactive workshops how to recognize disinformation in social media and learn how a Tagesschau edition in simple language is created.

ARD News Day in the editorial offices

The ARD News Day offers are aimed at the whole of society, from young to old, in cities and in the countryside. On September 19, for example, children and young people can help shape the news on several channels. In addition, various ARD media houses offer editorial visits for everyone, teachers receive suggestions for projects in class and seniors can produce their own program.

Young reporters present their news

The “young reporters” will be presenting their very personal “news” around September 19th: young people who, over the past few months, have produced their stories as audio and video contributions under the heading “Good News. Bad News. Your Story” with the support of professional journalists.

ARD Youth Media Day on 13 November 2024

The ARD Youth Media Day will take place on November 13th, and schoolchildren from all over Germany can take part. They will get to know the studios and editorial departments of the media houses from the inside, can produce their own media contributions, try things out and join in the discussions. ARD journalists will also come to schools for workshops, offer online training and provide information about their work in interactive live streams. The main topic here is also news. Registration is possible from September 16th.
