We recently informed you that Apple has allegedly increased production orders for upcoming iPhones.
However, one analyst has cast doubt on these reports. It is based on data from TSMC and Largan.
According to information provided by both companies, they did not record increased orders for production and supply of components. According to representatives, the volume of orders is comparable to last year’s orders – about 87 million.
Ming-Chi Kuo also suggests that expectations that Apple Intelligence will drive iPhone 16 sales ‘may be too optimistic’
The launch of Apple Intelligence is generally considered to be the reason for the increase in iPhone 16 orders. However, Apple Intelligence will only be available in beta for US users in 2H24, and Apple Intelligence Siri only supports English. Regardless of whether Apple Intelligence itself can drive replacement demand, it may be too optimistic to expect consumers to buy the new iPhone 16 for the Apple Intelligence Beta in 2H24.
What’s more, Apple has reportedly still not struck a deal to bring Apple Intelligence to China, and the feature will also not arrive in the European Union with the launch of iOS 18.
