Are the stairs in your way? Google Maps got a new feature

A new feature has quietly been added to the popular maps from Google, which will please everyone who prefers to they run down the stairs. Either because they don’t like walking on them, or because it would be difficult or impossible for them. For example, for people with limited mobility or parents with strollers or small children.

If you specify walking navigation in the maps, stairs icon automatically alerts you if there are any on the route. The notification about the stairs will also appear in the text form of the navigation with instructions.

If you don’t want the route with stairs to be displayed, enable it in the settings “Handicapped access”. Then the proposed route will avoid stairs and will also prefer elevators. This option was added last year. A stairs icon has now been added to maps.
