Are we safe? Russia’s secret operations are not the only ones that are publicly known

The US publication “The Wall Street Journal” announced this week that the self-igniting packages sent from Lithuania to Germany and the United Kingdom were part of a Russian covert operation.

It was intended to cause fires on transport and passenger planes flying to the United States and Canada.

Currently, Lithuanian law enforcement is conducting a pre-trial investigation on this matter, in which citizens of our country may also appear.

However, this operation, like the attack on the Russian oppositionist Leonidas Volkov in Vilnius and the fire in the IKEA shopping center, is not the only one in Lithuania.

“I’m talking about the operations implemented by the Russian intelligence services, the agency to affect certain of our objects – I won’t go into details, but whether it would be individuals or some other objects”, – interview 15min revealed Kęstutis Budrys.

We present the entire interview with the chief national security adviser of the country’s leader, Gitanas Nausėdas.

– In your opinion, what does the case of burning parcels show about the security of our country and possible threats?

– This shows that the escalation is taking place not only directly in military actions against Ukraine, but also in relation to the countries that support it, and from the Russian side there is a very clear message that we can transfer certain things to your territory, and especially to those countries that are really active in supporting Ukraine. That is, both targets and countries are not random, and targets and objects of such unconventional, kinetic operations are not random.
