It may seem early to some, but the Christmas party season is fast approaching. And with them also a season of factual questions, what to wear this year? So that you don’t have to worry about it yourself, we bring you outfit tips from stylist Barbora Havlíková, which you can use both for an informal cocktail party and for a large formal dinner.
The Christmas party season is just around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about what to wear. This year, don’t be afraid to untie.
“When else to bring out outfits in which you will shine! Glitter is flying this year, so don’t be afraid to shine,” says stylist Barbora Havlíková, who has prepared several festive outfits for you to inspire.
A good old classic. How to get the right all black look?
If you are not a big fan of colors and feel best in black, you can go for the so-called all black, i.e. in black from head to toe. But! So that the outfit does not look too dull, you need to play a little with materials and combine different structures and forms. “Shinier pieces are great for evening, so sequins and glitter will be ideal for the ladies. For men, velvet details on a jacket or a satin bow tie or a tie will serve you well – you can go to very formal parties with peace of mind in such outfits,” says Barbora Havlíková.
Casual but still chic
It’s not always necessary to reach for a big evening meal. If instead of an exuberant party, only a quiet dinner or a cocktail party awaits you, you just need to bring out a slightly more festive outfit. And this is where sequins come in. Ladies can definitely take advantage of the current collections in stores that offer countless sequined skirts and dresses. If the shine is too much for you, tone it down with a simple shirt. “For the more creative ones, I have a piece of advice: try to press down and throw on, for example, patterned pumps or a handbag,” advises the stylist. For men, a well-fitting suit with a classic shirt will do great for such an occasion. Since the parties are mostly in the evening, dark suit colors like grey, blue or anthracite are suitable. The shirt is ideal in white.
When instructions and inspiration are missing
The worst thing is when the event does not have a well-defined dress code. This is a bit tricky – you want to appear festive, but not “over-dressed”. Simply, you don’t want to overdo it. So what about yourself? For ladies, trendy leather or leatherette pants will solve this perfectly. Choose an interesting top as a top, don’t be afraid of rhinestones or other interesting applications, or more expressive cuts. Be sure to add heels and bolder accessories to underline the festive impression. “Gentlemen can bring out their favorite dark jeans, just not the ones with holes. A soft sweater or turtleneck and a casual jacket over it will work great with them, so the overall look will be elegant, but not too tight,” adds the stylist.
