In 2018, the iOS game ARK: Survival Evolved hit the market, enjoying considerable popularity at the time. The company responsible for it, Studio Wildcard, announced that a new, improved edition, titled ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition, would be coming to the App Store later this year.
The original ARK: Survival Evolved is an online action game in which players fight for survival on an island full of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. To survive, they must collect resources, build buildings, craft items, and tame animals. Of course, the game also features combat, both with local fauna and other players. ARK: Survival Evolved places a lot of emphasis on interaction between participants, allowing them to form rival tribes. In addition to a number of minor improvements, the ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition includes a lot of additional content, including all released DLC expansions introducing new maps and monsters to the game. The iOS port will likely be based on the version from the Nintendo Switch console.
The exact release date of ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition for iOS has not been revealed yet, but it is expected to take place before the end of this year, during the holiday season. It is also unknown what distribution model the publishers will choose. The original ARK: Survival Evolved for iOS was a freemium production, available for download from App Store for free but offering optional micropayments. However, it may turn out that the Ultimate Survivor Edition will be a paid premium game.
