Arkan Army captured 20 Bangladeshi fishermen

20 Bangladeshi fishermen including 13 boats and 2 motor boats were seized from the Naf River in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar by members of the Myanmar separatist armed group Arakan Army.

No one has returned till the time of writing this report. This incident happened on Tuesday (November 5) afternoon when the fishermen went to fish in the sea. Abdus Salam, UP member of Sabrang Union Parishad and resident of Shahpari island. However, the names of the detained Bangladeshi fishermen were not immediately known.

Abdus Salam member said, 20 Bangladeshi fishermen from Ukhiyar Kutupalong and Teknaf Shahpari Island were going to the sea through Naf River to catch fish. At that time, they mistakenly crossed the border and crossed the Naf River near Naikxyongdia in Myanmar. Armed members of the Arakan Army came and arrested the fishermen at gunpoint from the Myanmar border on the other side of Shahpari Island. In this incident, the family members of the fishermen are suffering from anxiety.

In this regard, Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Ghiyas Uddin could not be contacted as he did not answer the phone.
