Armored Skoda Kodiaq

Škoda Great Britain, in cooperation with safety experts from the company UTAC Special Vehicles, developed and presented an armored version of the Kodiaq model.

The armored SUV is based on the facelift model of the first-generation Kodiaq, not the new model that debuted last year. It underwent a number of modifications, and the exterior ones were limited to blinkers in the front fascia, bumper and tailgate, because the goal was to make it look as much like a regular production model as possible.

Inside, the 8-inch screen of the infotainment system has been transformed into a “communication hub” equipped with GPS and special controls for the lights and siren system. More importantly, the Škoda Kodiaq Armored has bulletproof glass, while the cabin has been significantly modified and protected by steel armour.

Škoda’s engineers have improved the suspension and brakes, so that the SUV can handle the additional weight, that is, it can maintain the driving characteristics and agility of the standard version. All four wheels are equipped with a system that allows you to continue driving in the event of a flat tire.

The engine has not been modified, and there are several options available to customers, including four-wheel drive.

Kodiaq is resistant to fire from different pistols and rifles, and can also withstand the explosion of grenades and explosives. It is designed to meet PAS 300 and PAS 301 standards for civilian armored vehicles.

Before receiving the certificate, the Kodiaq had to undergo rigorous tests of load capacity, acceleration, top speed, handling and braking. More than 200 bullets were fired at the SUV, and it also proved its resistance to explosions from the side, roof and under the chassis.

The company has sold almost 500 copies of the armored Superb model since its debut in 2018.
