(Suwon = Newsis) Reporter Byun Geun-ah = The pre-arrest warrant for the sister-in-law and secretary of Democratic Party of Korea member of the National Assembly Lee Sang-sik (Yongin Gap), who are suspected of underreporting assets during the 22nd National Assembly election, has been dismissed.

On the 24th, Suwon District Court Judge Son Cheol, who is in charge of issuing warrants, conducted a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (substantive examination of warrants) on Rep. Lee’s sister-in-law A and secretary B in the afternoon of the same day and then dismissed all arrest warrants.

Chief Judge Son explained the reason for rejecting A’s arrest warrant, saying, “The evidence has been submitted, the circumstances have been truthfully stated, and there is room for dispute over the application of Article 155, Paragraph 4 of the Criminal Act.”

Article 155, Paragraph 4 of the Criminal Act stipulates that a relative or cohabiting family member will not be punished if he or she commits a crime such as destruction of evidence on behalf of the person concerned.

Regarding Mr. B, he also said, “Considering the circumstances of the evidence collection and the circumstances of the case, it is difficult to recognize the justification for his arrest.”

The lawmaker is accused of underreporting his assets during the general election in April and spreading false information while trying to clear up suspicions about him.

Police, who began investigating this case, searched and seized Rep. Lee’s home and his spouse’s gallery last month.

Person A is accused of attempting to hide a laptop and other items with Person B during this process.

Meanwhile, the police summoned Rep. Lee as a suspect and questioned him on this day.
