The NEW year in the Premier League will be opened by the London derby between Brentford and Arsenal, which will meet at “Brentford Community Stadium” at 6:30 p.m.
The season played by Brentford is very interesting, the results are variable, their games are full of goals (goal-difference 32:32) and it is never boring to watch.
What has proven to be true so far is that the “bees” are the home team. Namely, they have the best home field in the Premier League along with Liverpool, they won 22 points in nine matches in front of their fans, however they are winless away from home and it’s like they are another team when they play on the sidelines.
Because of those weak games away from home, they are in the middle of the table, in 12th place to be exact, and are far from the places that lead to Europe, but they are still far from the relegation zone, which is the most important thing for Thomas Frank’s company.
The home team’s form is not good, they have not won three consecutive matches and won only one point in those matches.
To make matters even worse, they are faced with a traditionally unpleasant rival, the Arsenal team that beat them three times last season and has historically played very well against the “bees”.
The Gunners, unlike their rivals, are in excellent shape, have overcome the crisis and once again look like a team that will fight for a place at the very top of the table.
They tied three victories in all competitions, and the last one was against Ipswich at “Emirates” with a score of 1:0.
Although they are playing better, there is a big problem with the visitors, which is the injury of the team’s best player, Bukaj Saka. He suffered a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace on December 21 and is expected to be sidelined for around two months.
Without him, it will be difficult for Arsenal to keep up with the leading Liverpool, who are nine points behind them, but the good news for Mikel Arteta is that Gabriel Jesus has played recently and could be the one to replace the great English representative.
In addition to Saka, the visitors are without White, Tomijasu and Sterling, while Hickey, Dasilva, Henry, Pinnock and Ayer will miss the match for the hosts.
We expect an interesting city derby and suggest goals that are a frequent occurrence when these teams play. Although Arsenal is the better team, they would avoid the double because Brentford have historically played very well at the opening of the new year and do not know of a defeat in the last six games they played on January 1st.
