Arsenal won the derby at Tottenham 1:0, Brazilian Gabriel scored

London – Arsenal players won the London derby at Tottenham 1-0 thanks to Brazilian defender Gabriel and moved to second place in the English league table. For the first time since 2013, they won their sixth consecutive home game. They lose two points to 100% Manchester City, which they lost in the last round in the home draw with Brighton. Newcastle footballers won 2:1 in Wolverhampton and moved up to third place.

Arsenal manager Arteta, who extended his contract until 2027 in the week, has been without two midfield mainstays. Rice was eliminated in the last round, Norwegian captain Ödegaard returned from the national team meeting with an injured ankle.

Unlike the spring game, which Arsenal won 3-2, the spectators waited more than an hour for a goal. Both goalkeepers – the Italian Vicario in the service of the home team and the Spaniard Raya on the other side – did not get bored, however. After Saka’s corner kick, Gabriel’s accurate header decided the points for the guests.

Tottenham has won only one of the last eight matches between them and the start to the new season is not ideal either, with four points it is only thirteenth. Gunner Solanke, who scored 19 league goals in the Bournemouth jersey last season, returned to his lineup after an injury, but has yet to make his mark in the new season.

Wolves are still winless in the new season and have failed to keep a clean sheet in 16 games in a row. This time with Newcastle, who are still undefeated, they still led with a quarter of an hour before the end thanks to the Gabonese midfielder Lemina, but then the Swiss Schär together with Barnes turned the result around.

English Football League – Round 4:

Tottenham – Arsenal 0:1 (64. Gabriel), Wolverhampton – Newcastle 1:2 (36. Lemina – 75. Schär, 80. Barnes).
