Arte in November: film festival, stand-up comedy and more

There will be various new streaming content on Arte in November. This includes the “Arte Film Festival”, new series and new documentaries, including stand-up comedy.

From November 17th to 24th, Arte is showing the seventh edition of the “ARTE FilmFestival” with award-winning European and international author films. Included are Ruben Östlund’s “Triangle of Sadness” and “Pacifiction” by Albert Serra. Arte is also showing the historical drama “Corsage,” which revolves around the aged Empress Elisabeth “Sisi” of Austria-Hungary. The thriller “The Cairo Conspiracy” with the subsequent documentary “Once upon a time… The Cairo Conspiracy” by Amine Mestari is also included.

“Evil” (series): Spiral of violence in Stockholm in the 1950s

Stockholm in the 1950s: 16-year-old Erik is up to mischief as the leader of a youth gang. His last chance is the elite Stjernsberg boarding school. There he is confronted with a brutal punishment system that is in no way inferior to the abuse suffered by his father. Will Erik manage to free himself from the spiral of violence? “Biocrisis – mass instead of class?” (documentary)

The documentary “Biocrisis – mass instead of class?” shows the dark side of the growing organic sector: factory farming, cheap production abroad under inhumane working conditions, non-transparent organic labels. In the end, not only is consumer confidence shaken, organic shops and organic farmers also have to give up because of price pressure. Does organic still have a future? The documentary “Biocrisis – mass instead of class?” will be available in the Arte media library from November 19th.

“KIDS” (documentary series)

The documentary series “KIDS” takes us on a journey through the emotional and psychosocial development of our children. It’s about first love, youthful body images and very real fears. It’s about bullying, nutrition and status symbols. Using personal stories and the latest scientific findings, the documentary series offers insights into the world of young people. The 12-part series will be available in the Arte media library from November 20th.

„Stand-up Comedy“ (Dokureihe)

In three episodes, the documentary “Stand-Up Comedy” examines stand-up as a central pop culture phenomenon of the present, explores its origins and the discreet revolution of the female stand-up comedy scene in the 1960s. The series also looks at the conquest of increasingly politicized stand-up formats on social networks and streaming platforms. From November 20th there will be “Stand-up Comedy” in the Arte media library.

Homage to Puccini (Arte Concert)

Live from La Scala: Riccardo Chailly conducts the memorial concert for the 100th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini’s death. The world stars of the opera stage Anna Netrebko and Jonas Kaufmann celebrate one of the greatest composers in musical theater. Music director Riccardo Chailly leads the memorial concert with his own ensembles: the Orchestra and Choir of La Scala in Milan and the Choir Academy present excerpts from “Madama Butterfly” and “Manon Lescaut” as well as Puccini’s “Requiem”. The live stream starts on November 29th at 8 p.m arte.tv/concert.
