Artec 3D presents its two latest 3D scanners – technocrat

At the same time, the portfolio of 3D scanners working without markers was also updated with the latest, ultra-high-resolution generation of Spider handheld scanners, the Artec Spider II.

Artec Point is Artec 3D the first handheld scanner that uses markers and was developed for metrology purposes. Offering a wide viewing angle, extremely fast recording and 20 micron accuracy, the Point, complemented by the powerful Artec Studio software, offers an advanced and intuitive measurement workflow in the field of industrial metrology. Artec Spider II, on the other hand, excels in ultra-high-resolution, fast and even color digitization of objects with complex geometry. The speed and unprecedented detail make it an excellent choice for any application where precise geometry capture is paramount.

The joint launch of the two products once again confirms Artec 3D’s commitment to offering an innovative, comprehensive 3D scanner and software portfolio that fully covers the needs of various industries on the global market.

Point: the new favorite of industrial metrology

Within Artec 3D’s existing metrology offering, which is desktop Artec Micro IIis from Artec Ray II to a space scanner, Artec Point is the brand’s first hand-held laser scanner specially developed for metrology purposes. It is tailored to the application needs of industries such as automotive, aerospace, manufacturing and heavy industry.

The Artec Point its outstanding accuracy and precision of 0.02 mm is certified by the manufacturer in accordance with the VDI/VDE 2634 and JJF 1951 standards in an ISO-certified laboratory. The device can capture objects of various sizes and complexities, including dark, shiny surfaces or deep pockets, extremely quickly at up to 120 FPS or 2.8 million measurements per second.

Thanks to its robust metal housing, the Artec Point withstands challenging industrial conditions, while the ergonomic grip and featherweight make it easy to digitize hard-to-reach areas.

“In a crowded metrology market where many scanners offer similar levels of accuracy, the Artec Point stands out with its unmatched combination of precision, intuitive handling and software integration.”

– said Art Yukhin, CEO and President of Artec 3D.

“With its 20 micron accuracy, high repeatability and long life, the Artec Point powered by Artec Studio software offers a targeted industrial solution for metrology and reverse engineering users.”

Spider II: a step up in detail and speed

It builds on the success of its popular predecessor, the Artec Space Spider Spider II offers improvements such as significantly increased resolution and detail, a larger field of view and four times the recording speed. Based on blue light technology, Artec Spider II is able to create amazing models with a resolution of 0.05 mm based on a combination of geometry and texture data. In practice, all this means that it can be used from the pattern of a coin to the precise digitization of a car’s engine block.

Capturing both high-resolution geometry and realistic textures, Artec Spider II is designed to serve applications that require high detail and realism, such as re-modeling complex objects or creating hyper-realistic models for CGI purposes. When it comes to scanning the human body, it can capture details such as the smallest wrinkles or fingerprints. In addition, thanks to its non-contact technology, it is an ideal choice for everything from the digitization of priceless monuments to forensic trace recording.
