Google wants to replace teachers. He introduced the tool “Learn About,” which, unlike other chatbots, doesn’t just offer dry facts, but uses AI to explain complex topics and connect them with visual content.
Google introduced a simple yet very useful tool based on artificial intelligence called “Learn About,” which has the ambition to change the way new information is learned and processed. The tool is part of the Google Learning platform. As Google emphasizes, it is not just an ordinary chatbot that would talk to the user about any topic. Rather, it is a kind of educational guide for students, teachers, but also curious and inquisitive people, to whom it brings personalized answers and content adapted to their individual level of knowledge and needs. What does this mean in practice?
On the very simple-looking “Learn About” page, a simple question awaits students – What would you like to learn today? It is then sufficient to enter a specific topic or keyword into the search engine and the system will begin with an in-depth analysis of the given issue. If words are not enough, the user can also upload a file or image to the site to get an even more precise answer tailored to a specific topic.
The future in online education?
New tool powered by the LearnLM language model, which Google introduced back in the spring and which is based on the latest knowledge in the field of education. LearnLM is optimized for education, which means it doesn’t just offer dry facts, but emphasizes explaining topics and linking them with visual content for better understanding of the issue. providing visual content that promotes better understanding.
One of the main advantages of “Learn About” is that it provides answers beyond the standard “question-answer” type offered by other chatbots. For questions like “How big is the universe?”, the tool doesn’t just offer a standard answer with a few links, but expands on the topic with visual materials and supplemental blocks that are structured similarly to a textbook. It is possible to find sections such as “Why is it important?” or “Expand your vocabulary,” which are directly related to the given topic.
The tool is currently only available in a few countries, Slovakia is not among them yet. It also works primarily in English.
