Artist Robert Bronwasser makes a bicycle for life

Starting today it is Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven and until October 27, visitors can go there for innovative, controversial concepts from artists in the Netherlands. One of those artists is Robert Bronwasser, who attracts attention with his ‘bicycle for life’.

This year’s theme of the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven is REAL UNREAL. A topic that fits well with, for example, the major AI issues of today. When is something real or fake and how bad is that really? Various artists shed light on the matter. Robert Bronwasser does that too. We know He likes the chair with built-in folding table and the telephone that does not get dirty. This year in Eindhoven he will introduce the public to his Replay smart assistant and the modular e-bike Rebike.

Replay

We all know Google Nest Hub, and Apple is said to have something similar in the meantime: a smart assistant that you can access via a screen, with a speaker for playing answers or music. Replay is also a similar kind of smart assistant, but more fun. Robert calls current technology quite homogeneous and boring. ‘What if we can bring back simplicity and friendliness?’ The answer to that question is Replay. A funny orange device that you can take with you around your house, just like in the old days with the portable television. It can function as a digital photo frame, you can play your favorite series or games on it and play your favorite Abba playlist on it. The touch screen is 14 inches and there is a physical button to navigate and adjust the volume. With a bit of a retro, but cute look. View the Replay.

Rebike

There is currently a lot of buzz surrounding e-bikes: helmet requirements, minimum age limits, serious accidents, elderly people who have to be extra careful when taking blood thinners. For the Rebike, Robert Bronwasser came up with a way to revolutionize urban mobility. Rebike is not a bicycle to which all electronics have been added: it is electronics around which a bicycle is built. A modular bicycle too, allowing you to replace or repair parts. If you want, with a luggage carrier where you can put things or with a basket for your groceries. View the Rebike.

The Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven is now open until October 27.
