Drawing information from various trusted sources, we now take it for granted that the new Galaxy S25 FE will use the Dimensity 9400 instead of the Exynos 2500 or a modified version ofwhich means that a significant improvement in performance can be expected. Additionally, a report from South Korea suggests that the phone will be much thinner than its predecessor.
Is the smaller thickness profile due to the design of its components?
According to the latest report, Samsung has achieved thickness reduction by using a larger but thinner battery and aims to release it the S25 FE as a “slim” model. To use a larger battery, Samsung will need to redesign the other components inside.
So that they don’t call you ignorant, let’s repeat how the Galaxy S24 FE is 8mm thick, weighs 213g and has a 6.7-inch display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Inside, it packs a 4700mAh battery, up from the Galaxy S24’s 4000mAh.
While high-density silicon-carbon anode batteries are available on the market, which offer a significantly thinner form factor than a standard graphite anode battery of the same capacity, the source did not mention the use of this technology.
The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to feature a 6.7″ screen, similar to that of the Galaxy S24 FE. The phone is expected to launch sometime in the second half of next year.
While details on the upcoming FE model are scarce at this point, we can refer to the S24 FE to get an idea of what to expect.
So the new phone offers a very similar design to the Galaxy S24 and also maintains IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. In terms of cameras, the latest FE model also has a very similar camera setup to the base model, with slightly lower resolution on the 3x telephoto lens (8MP as opposed to 10MP).
So the Galaxy S24 is slightly thinner (at 7.6 mm), much lighter and compact. While Samsung increased the screen size of its FE devices from 6.4 inches to 6.7 inches starting this year, the reduction in thickness could be intended to match the flagship in this regard.
