Starting from January 1, 2025, state allowances for children in Romania will increase by 10.4%, according to the legislation in force. The changes will affect the following categories of children:
- Children over 2 years old: The allowance will increase from 292 lei to 323 lei per month.
- Children under 2 years old and children with disabilities: The allowance will increase from 719 lei to 794 lei per month.
This increase will benefit approximately 3.6 million children, as well as young people attending high schools and vocational schools. The payments will be managed by the National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection, and the necessary funds come from the budget of the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity.
This represents a continuation of the increases of recent years, with the allowances also being increased in January 2024 by 13.8%.
“The 3.6 million children, as well as young people attending high schools and vocational schools, will receive increased state allowances. The necessary funds come from the budget of the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity, and the payments are managed by the National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection”, said Simona Bucura Oprescu, Minister of Labor and Social Solidarity for Digi24.
Child allowances in Romania represent a form of financial support offered by the state to parents or guardians, to support the growth and education of children.
These changes apply to all children in Romania, up to the age of 18, but also to young people attending high school or professional courses, until they are completed, if they have legal residence in the country. In total, approximately 3.6 million children will benefit from these increases.
The allowances are distributed monthly and are managed by the National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection, and the funds come from the budget of the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity.
