ASAE dismantles illegal gambling production and distribution unit in Vila Nova de Gaia – Companies

The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) dismantled an illegal gaming production and distribution unit in Vila Nova de Gaia and seized more than 488 thousand euros worth of gaming machines.

In an inspection operation within the scope of combating and preventing criminal offenses related to illegal gambling, ASAE, through the Northern Regional Unit – Porto Operational Unit, inspected a wholesaler/storer, “where it was proceeding in an illegitimate and covert manner , the production, assembly and loading of slot machines”.

These machines would later be distributed across various parts of the country, says a statement from ASAE, informing that 244 gambling machines were seized for illicit gaming and outside authorized locations, worth more than 488 thousand euros. .

The action also resulted in the seizure of 770 counterfeit items, such as lighters, mugs with sports logos, among others.

Two criminal cases were opened for producing gaming material, using euros and for counterfeiting and illegal use of a brand, and a suspect was identified.
