Bad news for fans, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been postponed again. Ubisoft’s future blockbuster is now expected for March 20, 2025.
Assassin’s Creed Shadowspreviously expected for the end of 2024, will not be released on February 14, 2025. In a press release published on January 9Ubisoft has announced a new postponement for what is increasingly looking like the most important game in its history. The blockbuster is now expected for March 20, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PC.
The latest gameplay videos released by Ubisoft were reassuring, with clear improvements (notably the animations), but the developersAssassin’s Creed Shadows still need a few extra weeks to refine their copy to the extreme. This decision is linked to a strategic review of the French company, financially in danger.
Second delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows…
The best of pop culture for less than €2/month
From timeless classics to the latest hit series, the Disney+ catalog is unique. Don’t miss season 4 of The Bear or the 2025 Oscars ceremony!
« This additional time will allow the team to integrate feedback from players gathered over the last three months and will help create the best launch conditions by continuing to rely on the incredibly positive Assassin’s Creed community. », Informs Ubisoft. The multinational, which is playing very big with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, wants to put the best chances on his side, even though he experienced a big failure with Star Wars Outlaws.
Yves Guillemot, president of Ubisoft, recalls that the objective is to create “ the best Assassin’s Creed ” possible. If the title is well received, both by the press and by the players, then the French firm will certainly be able to take a deep breath.
Please note, however, that the date of March 20, 2025 remains included in the current fiscal year (which will end on March 31). We understand the idea: to postpone this final cartridge until the last moment so that it is as strong as possible, in order to end the exercise on an excellent note (financial, despite 10 short days of marketing). Ubisoft nevertheless takes the risk of suffering, once again, a slap in the face when the stock market opens on January 10.
In its press release, Ubisoft also announces that it is preparing for a potential sale, as several rumors have suggested in recent weeks. At the crossroads, the company will evaluate
« several capital and strategic transformation options », and an acquisition by another group (Tencent?) cannot be ruled out. We recall in this respect that there was a long fight against Vivendi. On the operational side, the objective is to reduce operating costs.
