ASUSTOR announced the launch of its third generation of high-end desktop NAS: i Locker gate Gen3all processor-based AMD Ryzen and equipped with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 slots for 3.5 inch hard drives.

All models are based on the SoC AMD Ryzen V3C14with four cores and eight threads operating at a maximum of 3.8 GHz and with a TDP of 25 W. We also find 16 GB of DDR5-4800 ECC RAM, two 10 GbE connectors, two 5 GbE connectorsas well 4 slot M.2 per SSD NVME PCIe 4.0which can be configured both to store data and as a cache. They are then present two USB4 (Thunderbolt compatible) and three USB 3.1 10 Gbps ports.
The quantity of slots for 3.5-inch hard disks varies depending on the model: in total there are four options, namely 4, 6, 8 or 10 disks. Disks up to 24 TB are supported for each slot, while for NVMe SSDs the maximum supported is 8 TB for each slot.
All devices will be equipped with the new operating system ADM 5which according to the manufacturer contains numerous improvements in user interface, security and threat monitoring.
From a hardware point of view, these are very important devices that are positioned at the highest end of the market. The price, consequently, is high: we are talking about €1,439 for the model with 4 slots and €1,669 for the model with 6. The two remaining models will be launched by the end of 2024.
