”At 20 I loved a woman, then I fell in love with my husband at a restaurant”: Alberto Matano talks about his romantic relationships

“With this book I wanted to tell that love knows no limits and categories: I hope that anyone who reads this novel can feel free to love. If I were a parent I would teach my child exactly this. It’s the book of a fifty-year-old who lived his life fully, without gloom and regret.”explains the journalist.

Rocco, the main actor of the book, has a great love, Giulia, before discovering he is gay. Alberto reveals: I also loved my Giulia, in the years immediately after university, an all-encompassing love, then I also experienced the same intensity towards a man. The love you experience at 20 overwhelms you, maybe it ends but you know that it has changed you and continues to live even in your absence. I also had a great youthful love, then with maturity you embrace everything with harmony. Great feelings must be mended.”

Then over the years came the coming out: “First I talked about it with my brothers, then with my parents, it was a process: Riccardo was the first son-in-law to join the family. Declaring your sexual orientation is something that starts from within, a very personal choice.”

Mannino for Matano was immediately dazzling: A stroke of love at first sight. He entered the restaurant where I was with some friends and I noticed him. When I ran into him again at the gym I took the first step. He was on the treadmill and I said to him: ‘but how much do you run…’”. Mara Venier suggested they get married: “Yes, we were at the restaurant and she launched the provocation. Riccardo opened the diary and marked the date. When he married us we were all teary-eyed”.

Building on the success of Life Livein the cast of Dancing with the StarsMatano confides about his future: “I would like a program where I am no longer just a journalist. After Dancing I feel one showman. And again: “Every day is a new challenge. I have a lot back from the public eqWhen I have nothing left to give I will go and live in a house in Maremmto. One of my aspirations.”
